The Hungry Bee

Early in the beautiful morning, as the sun began to peek over the sleepy hills, a tiny, buzzing bee, whose name was Tinybee, carefully left its cozy, warm hive. With a happy little flutter of its wings, Tinybee began its important journey. Its mission? To find lots and lots of yummy flowers, so it could collect the sweetest, most delicious sweet nectar to bring back home. Tinybee was very eager to start its day of buzzing and collecting!
Tinybee, with its little wings, flew and flew for a very long time, zipping past green trees and tall blades of grass. It looked high and low, searching with its tiny eyes, but oh no! After all that flying, she couldn't find even one bright, colorful flower anywhere in sight. Tinybee started to feel just a little bit sad because she was so hungry, and her tiny tummy rumbled, wishing for some sweet flower juice.
Soon after feeling a little down, Tinybee spotted something beautiful and shimmering from up high! She saw some lovely, floating water lilies with big, round pads, sitting calmly in a small, peaceful pond. Her little bee heart buzzed with excitement, and she flew closer, feeling very hopeful! But wait! As she got nearer, she noticed two big, green frogs sitting perfectly still right on the lily pads, looking very ready to jump! Tinybee, being a very smart bee, knew that if she flew too close, those quick frogs might try to catch her for their own snack! So, Tinybee wisely turned around and quickly flew far, far away from the pond, continuing her search for safe flowers.
Not long after leaving the pond, Tinybee's antennae twitched! She spotted some very large and truly colorful flowers in the distance. Her little bee heart fluttered with eagerness, and she flew toward them, dreaming about finding tasty nectar inside. But when she got very, very close, *sniff, sniff!* A terribly strong and very stinky smell filled the air, just like old, rotting fish! Oh dear, oh dear! Tinybee couldn't stand the awful, smelly smell even for a second and quickly flew far, far away from those yucky flowers, zipping away as fast as her wings could carry her, still searching for sweet-smelling blooms.
Poor Tinybee was so, so hungry now because she hadn't found any yummy nectar to eat all morning long! She closed her tiny eyes for a moment and made a big, hopeful wish: "Please, please, please, let me find some wonderful flowers very, very soon!" And guess what? Her wish magically came true! Just ahead, Tinybee found many fresh, bright, and beautiful hibiscus flowers, with their soft petals waiting for her! She eagerly ate the sweet hibiscus nectar, drinking it all up, and oh, it was so incredibly sweet and delicious! Even though she ate a lot, Tinybee still didn't feel completely full and ready for bed. So, she kept flying, determined to find even more wonderful flowers to fill her hungry tummy.
As the sun climbed higher in the sky and noon arrived, Tinybee, still searching for more food, landed gently in a huge, beautiful garden. This garden was absolutely bursting with so many pretty flowers of all kinds, like bright red roses with soft petals and tall, sunny sunflowers that reached high towards the sky! Tinybee happily ate lots and lots of sweet nectar, flying busily from one gorgeous flower to another, her little legs covered in pollen. But even all the fragrant flowers in this enormous garden couldn't quite fill her very hungry tummy completely. She still felt a little empty and knew she needed even more delicious nectar to feel truly full!
Just then, as Tinybee was enjoying her flower feast, she saw some truly beautiful purple flowers. They had such a wonderful, sweet smell, filling the air with their lovely perfume! She flew straight toward the fragrant dahlia flowers, excited to feast on their yummy nectar. Suddenly, she heard a tiny, familiar buzzing voice right next to her, "I'm hungry too! I haven't eaten anything since this morning either!" Tinybee was so surprised and happy to see her little sibling flying right next to her, also on a nectar hunt! "Yay! Let's eat together, little sister!" Tinybee said with a big, happy smile. They both ate a lot of dahlia nectar, but even after that big meal, both Tinybee and her sibling were still a bit hungry! So, with a shared look of determination, they flew off together to find more sweet flowers.
Tinybee and her little sister continued their journey, exploring new parts of the garden, until they discovered some newly bloomed tulips. The tulip flowers were very, very beautiful to look at, with their bright, cup-shaped petals in many different colors. But when the two busy bees tried their nectar, they made a funny face! They didn't like the taste at all! It wasn't sweet enough and just didn't taste right for their busy bee palates. So, with a quick buzz, they flew away from the tulips, continuing their search for other, much tastier and sweeter flowers to collect more golden nectar.
Finally, after a long and adventurous search, the two tired but hopeful bees stopped at a lovely, peaceful valley. This valley was absolutely filled with so many wonderfully fragrant and colorful flowers, like cheerful, sunny marigolds and sparkling, beautiful amethyst blooms that shimmered in the sunlight! Tinybee and her sibling ate plenty and plenty of sweet, sweet nectar there. At last, their little tummies felt completely full and wonderfully happy! After satisfying their hunger with all that delicious nectar, they decided it was the perfect time to fly back home to their warm and cozy hive, ready to share their sweet findings.
On their way back home, as the sun began to dip lower in the sky, they suddenly saw a very strange and enormous corpse flower. It was huge, big and colorful, but it looked very different from all the sweet flowers they knew. The younger bee, full of curiosity, wanted to fly closer to the captivating but unusual flower to explore it, but Tinybee quickly stopped her little sister with a firm buzz. "Oh no, little sister!" Tinybee warned, her voice serious. "That flower smells very, very bad, just like a corpse! It's not for us, and it doesn't have sweet nectar for bees. Don't go near it. Let's go home to our hive now!" Tinybee kept her sibling safe from the strange flower.
As the beautiful evening sky began to turn pink and orange, Tinybee and her sibling finally flew back to their busy, bustling hive. Their whole bee family was so incredibly happy and relieved to see them safely return after their long day of foraging! They all buzzed together with joy, sharing stories of their adventures and the sweet nectar they had found. Tinybee and her sister were tired from all their flying and searching, but they were also very, very happy after their big adventure to find the best and sweetest nectar for their hive! This story teaches children about different types of flowers, the importance of bees, and making wise choices in nature.
