There was once a brave and hardworking boy whose name was Diego! But many children in his happy village knew him by a very special name: **the Duck Shepherd**. Since his kind father had sadly passed away, Diego, with his big heart, bravely took over the important responsibility of looking after all the fluffy **ducks** that belonged to his dear family. He made sure they were always safe and well-fed.

Every day, right after returning home from a busy day at school, Diego would carefully lead all his fluffy ducks to the nearby green **rice fields**. While he watched over his big flock of ducks as they searched for yummy food, Diego loved to read a book! This young boy truly enjoyed reading; he would read anything he could get his hands on, from exciting storybooks to old, crinkly magazines and even his very own school books. He loved to learn!

As the sun began to set and evening gently approached, painting the sky with beautiful colors, Diego would carefully guide all his ducks back to their cozy **duck pen**. It was amazing to watch! With just a small stick in his hand, he was able to control the whole flock of ducks. The ducks were very obedient and followed his lead perfectly, walking back to their safe pen in a neat, orderly line, quacking softly as they went.

Before leaving the duck pen for the night, Diego had a very important job to do! He would count all his ducks, one by one, very carefully, just to make sure that none were left behind or had not entered their warm home. If all the ducks were there, and the number was complete, he would happily close the pen gate and head back home. But if there were still a few ducks outside the pen, Diego would bravely return to the green rice fields to find them and gently guide them back to their safe sleeping spot.

At night, after enjoying a yummy dinner with his family, the diligent boy would always work on his homework. He was very responsible and always completed all his school assignments on time, making sure they were neat and perfect. He also loved to study his school books, especially looking ahead at the lessons that would be taught the very next day, so he was always super prepared!

Diego was not just smart; he was also a kind big brother! He often helped his younger sister, Gina, with her math lessons. Gina was in the second grade and loved learning with her clever brother; she always found it fun and easy when Diego taught her. Both siblings were very diligent in their studies, always trying their best to learn and grow smarter every day.

In the very early morning, even before the big, bright sun would start to rise and light up the sky, Diego would wake up. He would go straight to the duck pen to collect the fresh, warm **duck eggs**. He would carefully pick up each egg one by one, gently placing them into a strong wire basket. That day, Diego was very, very happy because almost all of his lovely ducks had laid eggs, filling his basket with treasures!

After collecting the eggs, Diego would get ready for school. He would carry the basket filled with duck eggs to sell at the nearby **grocery store**. This brave sixth-grade student was never, ever ashamed to bring duck eggs to school; instead, he felt very proud to help his dear mother and his family by earning money. He knew he was doing something very important!

Mrs. Ani, who owned the friendly grocery store, was always so very kind and had a warm smile for Diego. She always smiled brightly when receiving the fresh eggs from Diego, because his eggs were truly special! Diego's eggs were loved by all her customers because they were always bigger in size and super fresh, having just been taken from the duck pen that very morning. They were the best eggs in town!

In his classroom, the amazing **Duck Shepherd** was known as a very active and super intelligent student. He always worked hard and received very good grades on all his tests and assignments! His kind teacher and all his classmates really, really liked him because he was not only smart but also friendly and good at making friends with everyone.
